Cánovas and economic concerts: Jaime Ignacio del Burgo

Antonio Cánovas del Castillo has gone down in history as a great statesman. He was the architect of the Restoration of the Monarchy in 1874, which remained, badly than well, for fifty years. Among the Basques, however, the figure of Cánovas does not have great sympathies because he was the promoter of the law of July 21, 1876, abolishing the secular fueros vascongados. But very few know that it was he who granted the economic concert regime, pillar of the current Basque autonomy.
