More than Guardian Angels: Alvaro Ruiz Pérez
Throughout history, when remembering an event, when narrating a tragedy, when debating an event ... there have always been forgotten groups, people who, either voluntarily or for reasons of chance, have been omitted from the stories. In this specific case, the great forgotten are the bodyguards who protected the lives of all those who were threatened by or were possible targets of the terrorist group ETA. Women and men who pledged their own lives so that many others could continue in the best possible way with theirs. People who acted as human shields in a situation of fear and uncertainty where a series of individuals dedicated themselves to taking the lives of those who did not think like them. Anonymous heroes without a cape and ignored who avoided countless deaths and who have been forgotten in the various tributes that have been made to all victims of terrorism. For this reason, this work aims to do so, to record their emotions, their experiences and how they remember terrorism in the Basque Country. A story that seeks to capture all the adversities they suffered to show their worth, so that when they look back and tell the history of Euskadi they are remembered and not forgotten.
